Another brother martyred in Pakistan

We are shocked with the news of the martyrdom of one of our brothers. Dr. Mehdi Ali Qamar of Columbus Jama’at was martyred in Rabwah, Pakistan on May 26, 2014, at the age of 51, Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji‘un. Dr. Mehdi was leaving the Bahishti Maqbarah, with his wife and two-year old son around Fajr time when he was gunned down. He had arrived in Pakistan with his family a couple of days ago and was scheduled to volunteer at Tahir Heart Institute in Rabwah.

As violence against our brothers is increasing in Pakistan, the National Tarbiyat Department has requested all of us for the following action items

  • Thursday (May 29th) – Urge members to keep a voluntary fast, pray for the safety of Ahmadi Muslims living under persecution, and for world peace.
  • Friday (May 30th) – Offer Funeral prayers in abstentia for our decorated martyr, Dr Mehdi Ali.
  • Saturday (May 31st) – Organize collective Tahajjud prayers in your mosques, Salat centers, homes.

Majlis Ansarullah USA has created this special webpage which includes a short sketch of Dr. Mehdi Qamar, his poems as well as his works on calligraphy, and press and media coverage of this heinous act and a comments section where people can share their memories as well.

The Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) has condemned the horrific incident and issued a statement. They have promised to take the matter up at their day on the Hill.

Remember the fifth condition of Bai’t: “That he/she shall remain faithful to God in all circumstances of life, in sorrow and happiness, adversity and prosperity, in felicity and trial; and shall in all conditions remain resigned to the decree of Allah and keep himself/herself ready to face all kinds of indignities and sufferings in His way and shall never turn away from it at the onslaught of any misfortune; on the contrary, he/she shall march forward.”
