This past week, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Dallas witnessed a tragic event where we lost two people – Abrar Khan and his wife Talat Khan – both very dedicated members of the community and dear to us. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raajioon. From God do we come and to Him do we return.
Their home in McKinney caught fire on the afternoon of April 23, which unfortunately proved deadly. While Abrar Khan was pronounced dead on the scene, sister Talat could not survive her injuries despite best efforts both on site and at the hospital. Her mother was also home but escaped with minor injuries.
The couple has left behind two sons – Saqib, 17 years and Shahab, 13 years. Both were at school when the incident happened.
The funeral prayers were held at the Baitul Ikram mosque on Saturday, April 25th and the burial took place afterwards at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Abrar Khan and Talat Khan have been living in McKinney for the past 10 years since they moved from Detroit, Michigan. They are remembered by the members of the community and their neighbors as very nice, loving and caring people.
