Report : Prayer Service for San Bernardino victims

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community held a special prayer service today for the victims of the San Bernardino attack in California.

The meeting was arranged at the Masjid Baitul Akram on 1850 Hedgcoxe Rd, Allen at 2:30PM on Dec 6, 2015. The meeting was announced on the webpage, twitter and Facebook feeds and separate media advisories also have been sent out – which was well received by the community. More than 80 people attended and many local media outlets also covered the program.

Mr. Irfan Rabbani started the program with recitation of the Holy Qur’an. He highlighted the verses of the Holy Qur’an that upholds the freedom of faith such as “There is no compulsion in religion. Surely right has become distinct from wrong”.

Mr. Suhail Kausar, President of the community for Dallas Chapter presided the program. “Our prayers are with the brothers and sisters of San Bernardino, who were innocent but lost their lives to the heinous crime of a few evil people” he stated. He reminded the community that while serving humanity, it is natural that we face these dark faces of evil and we have to conquer them. He also urged that targeting Islam for the perverted ideologies of evil minded terrorists who have other agenda does not yield positive results either.

The community was also addressed by a few guests as well that included a neighbor who reminded that we are all one family who came from a single pair of parents. The congregation then shared a moment of silence that members used to pray in their own ways.
