On Sunday, April 22nd, Lajna Ima’illah Dallas held its annual Interfaith Event titled “How Does Religion Empower Women?” Over sixty guests joined our lajna members for thoughtful speeches from four different speakers representing a variety of faiths. Reverend Amy Moore spoke on behalf of Christianity, Mrs. Ranneh Kaylan shared the Baha’i perspective, Dr. Roopam Shyam represented the Hindu faith, and Mrs. Tamara Rodney spoke on behalf of Islam. The speakers reflected on how family, community, education and religion all combine to empower women. Many of the ideas shared and discussed overlapped one another proving once again, there is more that unites us than divides us. After a brief question and answer period, the program ended with silent prayer and guests were served refreshments. Many stayed and socialized with lajna members and took advantage of the time to have longer, one on one conversations with many of the women present. By the grace of Allah, the event was a success and we hope to see many returning faces at future events.
