Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA Expresses Condolences to Victims of Charleston Terror Attack

Stands in solidarity with African American Christian Community

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the barbaric terror attack yesterday on the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The terror attack left nine dead. From God we are and to God must we return.

“This attack is an attack on all humanity, and we stand in solidarity with our African American and Christian brethren,” said Wasim Malik, Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, “We must maintain the lines of dialogue and understanding to prevent future such attacks. We pray for the departed that may God be with them always.”

For Muslims the holy month of Ramadan began today—a time of fasting, prayer, contemplation, and service to humanity. As such, we increase our prayers and supplications for the victims of this horrible crime, and pray God engulfs them with His strength and Grace.

About Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long- awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Muslims of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
