India Pakistan Friendship Dinner

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Dallas hosted a first of its kind India Pakistan Friendship Dinner on Sunday Aug 13, 2023 which was attended by 50+ people from both nationalities. 
The event was attended by people from different walks and representing different organizations. Dr, Basheer Ahmed from Muslim Cultural Center, Nadir Nanjiani from IQRA for peace and Syed Adil Ahmad, Missionary of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Dallas were the main speakers of the day. Dr. Basheer talked about the history of India – Pakistan division, Nadir emphasized the need for working together and Missionary Adil shared the Quranic teachings on recognizing various cultural backgrounds and what we can learn from each other. 

Shabnam Modgil, CEO of Radio Caravan, a desi Radio Station in Dallas, shared beautiful stories she had during her younger days while her Army office Dad was posted at the borders. Once she had opportunity to meet a Pakistani girl at the Wagah border – how interesting was it for an Indian Sikh girl with an Urdu name to meet a Pakistani Muslim girl with a Sanskrit name “Kiran”.

Namrata, representing South Asian Association for Voter Empowerment, talked about her own experience as she was also an Army daughter. She also requested the community to work together in the USA and recognize each other. 

Ali Karim, who is of Indian origin but a second generation Kenyan, talked about his experience travelling both India and Pakistan and especially his experience in both sides of Kashmir. 

There was also a great feast cooked by our brothers and a special Kashmiri chai that the guests enjoyed.
